Pest control in Clematis

Clematis station opened as Paradise Valley in 1902, became Paradise in 1908 and Clematis in 1921. Building the Cardinia Reservoir flooded or displaced more than half its farmland.

Houses in the conservation zone

About three quarters of Clematis is rural conservation zone on the planning maps, and about a seventh is low density residential. All of it is under the bushfire management overlay.

A brushtail possum in the roof can be trapped humanely, but it must be released on the same property, within 50 m. Trapping or disturbing other wildlife without a permit is illegal. Possums explains how to keep them out.

Checking for termites

Clematis is almost entirely in Cardinia Shire. Cardinia records whether each property is termite prone on its property information certificate, so that is where to look before building. Treatment needs a pest controller whose licence includes timber pests. See termites.

The pub and two shops

Clematis has a pub and two shops. Under the Food Standards Code, the pub's kitchen and any shop selling food must take all practicable measures against pests, both keeping them out and eradicating any that get in.
