Pest control in Menzies Creek
Menzies Creek, named for an 1860s gold digger, James Menzies, sits on the line between Yarra Ranges and Cardinia, and the two councils record termite risk differently.

Which council you are in
Menzies Creek is split between two shires, Yarra Ranges and Cardinia, a little more of it in Yarra Ranges. For pest work the line matters, and your address decides which side you are on.
On termites, the whole of Yarra Ranges is a designated area. Cardinia records whether a property is termite prone on its property information certificate, so on that side you check the certificate for your own block. Termites explains what follows.
Wasp nests differ less. Yarra Ranges treats them on council land only, and Cardinia doesn't remove bees or wasps from private land. On either side, a nest at your house is your call to a pest controller.

Green wedge land and rabbits
Half of Menzies Creek is green wedge zone and a third rural conservation zone on the planning maps; none of it is zoned residential. Cardinia lists rabbits as established pest animals under the Catchment and Land Protection Act, which requires the landowner to take reasonable steps against them on both sides of the council line.

Either side of the line
- Selby, Belgrave South, Kallista and The Patch
- Wholly Yarra Ranges, so the termite designation applies across them.
- Clematis
- Almost all Cardinia: check the property information certificate.
