Pest control in Kalorama
Kalorama looks out from Five Ways over Silvan Reservoir, and its mountain ash gullies are lyrebird country.
We connect you with a local pest controller who works in the hills.

Mountain ash and lyrebirds
Kalorama's forests are mostly eucalypt, mountain ash among them, and the wet gullies are home to the superb lyrebird. You can sometimes hear one mimicking from the deeper gullies and the south-eastern slopes. Half the locality is park on the planning maps, and another tenth is zoned for rural conservation.
That shapes what a pest job can be. It is illegal to kill, trap or disturb wildlife without a permit. A brushtail possum in the ceiling can be trapped humanely, but it must be released on the same property, within 50 m. Taking it further away is not allowed. Possums in the roof explains how to keep one out.

Nests, swarms and snakes on a bush block
On a bush block, a wasp nest is the owner's job, because Yarra Ranges only treats nests on council land. Call a pest controller. A honeybee swarm is different: a local beekeeper will often collect it for a small fee or free. Wasps and bees has more.
Snakes are protected wildlife. Yarra Ranges won't remove one even from public land, so ring 136 186 for a list of licensed snake controllers, who charge the owner.

Building here
All of Yarra Ranges is a designated termite area under the Building Regulations. A new house or extension in Kalorama has to be protected against termites. A detached shed or garage doesn't.
